nice to meet you ☺

About

Hiya! I'm Whitney or, as I'm sometimes known as online, Whinnie. I graduated from the University of Waterloo's Environment & Business class of 2017, however my real interests lie in people and technology, particularly gaming. The earliest fondest memory in my career is of getting to work with a local startup and demoing their product right on the floor of Toronto's major Fan Expo convention.I love helping others out in practical ways and being able to firsthand see the results of my work. I also strive to be a versatile and integral part of my teams. In the past I've been complimented on my attention to detail, positive attitude, teamwork, and quick learning ability.I also livestream regularly on Twitch and strive to create a safe community space for others, particularly minorities and those that identify as LGBTQIA+. I most enjoy connecting people with similar interests, planning community events, and learning more about others.Going forward, I want to continue to lead and inspire the people around me to be better, and to provide the guidance and insight that I wish I had growing up. Most importantly, I strive to be the best version of myself that would make my younger self proud.

Experience

I'm interested in various areas -- enablement, events, and leadership, to name a few -- and am always down to learn a new skill or two, but above all I love working with others.

Bonfire Interactive

Aug. 2021 - Apr. 2022
I worked within our Enablement team to ensure that our Client Experience dept had everything they needed to serve our clients best! That included supplementing onboarding with training webinars, managing our in-house learning portal, and cross-collaborating to coordinate new software releases with content updates for clients.

Nov. 2017 - Jul. 2021
I provided technical assistance so that our users could succeed at their jobs through their usage of Bonfire. As a Client Support Specialist and the most senior agent on the support team from July 2019 onwards, I also assisted other agents with complicated tickets, and was responsible for operations such as knowledge base maintenance, scheduling, training, and quality assessments.

Avid Apparel

May - Sept. 2016
I independently worked on an e-commerce tool to create new product offerings and competitive pricing structures, after conducting extensive competitive and industry analyses. I also assisted with daily business operations and process documentation and improvement.

Monogram CC (aka Palette Gear)

May - Aug. 2015
As the first non-technical co-op student on board, I got to contribute a lot! I held full responsibility for all customer relations (including via email and all social media) during their media launch. I also taught myself how to use specialized customer support software (Zendesk), integrated it into our daily workflow, and then taught the rest of the team how to use it.

Lunarch Studios (Prismata)

Aug. - Dec. 2014
As one of the first two marketing co-op students ever, I was able to drive social media marketing efforts before and during their Kickstarter campaign. I also led community management initiatives such as giveaways, and got to attend Fan Expo 2014 where we demoed their game to around 10,000 people.

Interests

video games
& streaming

I really enjoy co-op PvE games like Borderlands and Left 4 Dead. Sonic the Hedgehog was my childhood hero. Right now I'm a full-time content creator partnered with NZXT, Elgato, HoYoVerse, & more!

music
♩♪♫

I learned piano growing up (RCM Grade 8) and sang in my university's all-female a cappella group between 2013-2018, where I got the chance to feature as a soloist and pick up beatboxing.

cats, dogs, &
cute animals

I adopted the sweetest cat Charlie (aka Charchar or @charmongus) in Mar 2019, and while he is naughty at times, I'd never trade him for the world (he's practically a dog!) I also might be getting him a sibling ...
